Learn simple ways to decorate your accent cabinet oh-so beautifully.
I have never had an accent cabinet before. However, since I pretty much take over every inch of storage in our bedroom (including the entire closet!), my husband needed a small space to keep some of his things. This was the perfect opportunity to bring in some furniture and decor to a pretty large bedroom wall that was previously pretty bare.
I was on the hunt for a storage cabinet with doors that would complement our coastal style. Natural materials are the perfect way to infuse that classic coastal design into your space. I found the perfect accent table with linen accented doors at Wayfair for under $200. Normally, I shy away from manufactured wood, but this one was too cute to pass up. Plus, the reviews were amazing!
Honestly, in person this accent cabinet looks even better than online. It looks much more expensive than it is. It’s very heavy too, so you don’t have to worry about a flimsy piece of furniture that won’t stay together!

Accent Storage Cabinet Decorating Mood Board
Always build a mood board when you’re decorating. It will save you so much time in the long run! You can browse online and find items you’re considering and be able to visually see how they play together. I use mood boards for everything from full room makeovers to choosing bedding for a bed. I literally could not decorate without them! This is my favorite free mood board, and it’s so easy to use.
Accent Cabinet Decor
Because this accent cabinet was only 30” long, I didn’t have a ton of space to work with. But it’s still plenty to add a few decor items. Below are a list of perfect decorative accessories for your accent cabinet:
Lamp
A lamp is a great way to add a piece of decor to your accent cabinet that’s both beautiful and functional. Think about the functionality of the space you’re decorating. Do you need light? If so, a lamp is a perfect item to use as your statement piece.
I have been wanting a cement lamp and finally found one that I love and that didn’t cost a fortune (cement can be pricey). This white cement lamp adds a bold statement to our accent cabinet. It also brings in some nice texture to the space for visual interest.
Plants
If my husband had his way, we would have zero free time because it would all be spent watering plants. We have SO many live plants in our house! I always prefer real plants to fake ones, so I embrace it. If you’re going to decorate with plants, make sure you know the recommended sun exposure for each plant.
I used a pothos (aka money plant) on our accent table, which is the perfect plant for anyone wanting some easy greens to manage. This plant literally takes care of itself as long as you water it once a week and give it plenty of sunlight. I found this really cute navy/white ceramic pot at our local plant nursery, but you can also buy them on Pinterest.
Candles
I absolutely love decorating with candles. Studio Mcgee has the best smelling candles at Target, and I am a super fan! Candles look beautiful and you can light them to make the room smell amazing, especially when guests are coming over.
Picture Frames
Picture frames are perfect to display on your accent table. Amazon is my go-to for simple picture frames, and you can buy them in bulk for next to nothing. Layer multiple picture frames in different sizes to help fill in the space.
Vases
Vases are the perfect accent piece for your storage cabinet and pair nicely with a lamp and candle.
Since moving into our new house, I didn’t have a great home for our accent cabinet in our bedroom. So, I moved it to the formal sitting room right off our entry way. This room is so gorgeous with batten board walls, and this accent table looks just perfect with the blue ombre vases that used to be on the cane console table in our old living room.
We’re nowhere close to being finished with this space yet, but I am loving the accent cabinet in here. The buyers of our last home bought a lot of our furniture and decor (props to me I guess LOL), so we are buying a lot of new things for this house.
Other smaller pieces to consider working into your accent cabinet decor are trays, books, and decorative items like spheres, balls, or statues. Think about items you would decorate a coffee table with, and they’ll likely fit perfectly on your accent cabinet too!
Hanging art or a mirror behind your accent cabinet is also an option and can be beautiful. I thought about doing that in our bedroom, but I didn’t get a chance to explore before we sold our house. And I am not putting any nails in the batten board walls in our new house!
I hope this post gave you some good accent cabinet decor ideas. Happy decorating!
