Discover easy ways to transform your kitchen into organized bliss with these kitchen drawer organization ideas.
Nothing is more frustrating than trying to find something in a kitchen drawer that is an unorganized disaster. I’m sure we always start out with the best intentions but it’s so easy to toss things in random places when you’re in a hurry!
Not only does having organized drawers make it easier to find things but it also maximizes space. I have found some really amazing kitchen drawer organizers that will get your drawers so pretty and organized that you’ll want to open them just to admire the beauty!
How to Organize Kitchen Drawers
There are a lot of different options when it comes to kitchen drawer organization. I have tried SO many different options, but I am really happy with what I’m using now.
1. Determine What Items Will Be in Your Kitchen Drawers
If you store your silverware in a drawer, you’ll need specific organization for that. If you want to store knives in drawers, there are specific solutions for that. Once you know exactly what will be in your drawers, you’ll be better equipped to find the right organizer.
2. Decide Which Drawers to Store Each Set of Items
For me, it’s all about convenience and size. I like my silverware to be closest to the dishwasher, so I designate that drawer for it. I use my longer drawers for storing larger or odd-shaped kitchen utensils. Think about how your kitchen will be the most functional and decided exactly where you want things to live.
3. Measure Your Drawers
This part is really important. You want to make sure whatever drawer organizer you pick out will actually fit your drawer. Figure out how much space you’re working with and write down the measurements. I like to jot dimensions down on a sticky note while I research products online.
Organizing Silverware
Once upon a time, I actually had our flatware hanging on the counter. It was a cute modern set from Crate & Barrel. I kept the silverware and tossed the hanger, so now I keep them in a drawer along with new sets I’ve added. You never want to run out of silverware when you’re hosting guests!
I discovered this great bamboo adjustable silverware organizer from Amazon, and I’ve been really happy with it. There are 8 divided sections, and the ends are adjustable to you can increase or decrease depending on your drawer size.
Kitchen Utensil Organization
I keep cooking utensils like wooden spoons, spatulas, and whisks in a porcelain utensil holder from World Market on our kitchen counter. I use these items so often that it’s just easier to grab them off the counter than fish around in a drawer for them. For items you use a lot, don’t be afraid to keep them on the counter. We all want a clutter-free counter but you can always find cute storage solutions that also offer convenience.
For other cooking utensils, like measuring cups and spoons, I wanted to store those in a drawer. I needed something super versatile and adjustable to fit different sized utensils. This bamboo adjustable drawer organizer is the perfect solution. I can expand it to fit the full width of our drawer, but I opted to leave some space for our rolling pin. Don’t forget to check the min and max width before buying your drawer organizer to be sure it fits!
Kitchen Drawer Organization for Large Utensils
For our largest kitchen drawer, I store everything from knife sharpeners to wine accessories. I used the same bamboo adjustable drawer organizer that I used for my measuring cups. It’s the perfect storage solution and it coordinates with my other drawer organizers. The adjustable sides are awesome because I can leave a little space for random things like a cheese grater and cookie cutters (yes, my dogs get homemade cookies!).
Plastic Bag Organizer
Just when you thought your plastic bags couldn’t be organized in a cute way, you’re in luck! Costco has the most adorable bamboo food bag dispenser set for less than $25 (for Costco members). Then, you don’t have to worry about the top of the box getting caught up in the drawer (which constantly happens to me!).
For non-Costco members, I found a couple of other great options:
Coffee & Tea Organizer
If you’re looking for a great solution for Keurig coffee cups and tea bags, Target has some really cute drawer organizers. They come in a ton of different colors and sizes and will expertly organize your coffee, tea, hydrator packets, and more!
Junk Drawer Organizer
I hate calling this a junk drawer because my drawers never have junk! But seriously, we all have a need for that one catch-all drawer for random things like sticky notes, pens, tape, receipts, service business cards, etc. But there’s no reason it has to look junky! I found these amazing bamboo cubes from Amazon that organize our junk drawer amazingly well. Having dividing cubes like this almost forces you to be more organized vs. just throwing everything in a stuffed, messy drawer.
