Check out my honest review of the Pottery Barn Riviera Striped Roman Shades to see if they are the right fit for you!
I have been obsessed with the Pottery Barn Riviera Striped Roman Shades and curtains for years. Clearly with a blog called All in Stripes, I am a huge fan of the print. And the PB Riviera Stripe is the crème de la crème of striped window treatments.
My favorite window treatment of all time is white plantation shutters. They uplevel the look of any space with an air of classic elegance. I installed real wood plantation shutters in my last two homes, and it pained me to leave them behind (not to mention they are a pricey investment!).
However, when we moved into this house, we had a lot of modern black railing. This created major visual interest, and I was concerned that plantation shutters would be too busy. So, I wanted to try roman shades, and the kitchen was my first priority.
Are Pottery Barn Riviera Striped Roman Shades Worth it?
The Riviera Striped Roman Shade comes in 3 colors: navy, porcelain blue (light blue), and sandalwood (khaki). I actually debated between all 3 and ultimately landed on the navy, since that’s the primary decorating color in our home. Plus, we have navy shiplap on a wall that sits adjacent to the kitchen.
I needed 6 roman shades for my kitchen windows, so I waited for them to go on sale and dropped a little over $1K for all of them.
I’ve now owned them for over a year, so I can give you the scoop on whether or not the PB Riviera Striped Roman Shades live up to the hype.
Pottery Barn Riviera Striped Roman Shades Pros:
1. They’re high quality
I was super impressed from the minute I opened up the package. The Riviera Striped Roman Shade is made with a thick linen/cotton blend, and they feel and look really expensive!
2. They’re blackout
These roman shades have a hidden cord and blackout liner, and they’re really easy to lift up and down. Truthfully, I’ve only lowered them a couple times. Our backyard backs up to a park, so there is no one behind us!
3. They’re easy to install
Full disclosure: I am not handy! So, when I say they’re easy to install, they actually are.
You have the option to place the shades on the outside or inside of your inner window frame. I opted to have them inside because I prefer that look. All of the hardware you need comes with them. I used a power drill to drill the holes, and that was the most challenging part of the whole ordeal!
4. They’re GORGEOUS!
The PB Riviera Striped Roman Shades instantly transformed the look of our kitchen. They created the perfect coastal touch to our space.
Pottery Barn Riviera Striped Roman Shades Cons:
1. They only come in 5 different sizes
This is fine if you have standard size windows, but I don’t. These shades are actually slightly too small for my windows, so they aren’t a perfect fit. I was okay with it because I wanted them so badly. But for someone who wants a perfect, exact fit – you may be limited with their size options.
2. They’re expensive
If you want Pottery Barn style, you’re going to have to pay for it. The Riviera Striped Roman Shades are 2-3X more expensive than other options at $200-$300+ a piece. I actually looked for alternatives but couldn’t find any striped roman shades that came close to the look and quality of these. So, I was willing to drop the extra bucks for them!
Pottery Barn does have sales, so keep a watch on these. When they go on sale, it’s time to act quick!
After a year of having the Pottery Barn Riviera Striped Roman Shades, I still love them as much now as the day I installed them. They helped create a classic coastal style in our kitchen, and I am so happy with them! I highly recommend these for anyone looking to take their windows to the next level with a timeless striped shade that will never go out of style.
